Sailing’s Homecoming

Perhaps with the exception of favorable weather, nothing improves a day on the water as much as good company. That is what makes the Annapolis Sailboat Show (Oct. 15-18) more than a marketplace. For four days each October, the sailing world converges on City Dock to close out one season and start planning the next.
Here is what that reunion looks like in 2026.
Familiar Faces
Think of it as a family reunion, minus the folding chairs and questionable casseroles. Familiar faces line the docks, old crews reassemble, and competitors relitigate long-past protests. Attendees may arrive alone, but nobody leaves the show a stranger.
Room to Spread Out
Socializing aboard a monohull is entirely possible, but a catamaran is hard to beat on square footage. Wide beams, level decks, and cockpits that flow into salons make cats natural gathering spaces, which goes some way toward explaining why catamaran owners always seem to be hosting. The 2026 fleet includes the world debut of the Knysna 550 and North American debut of the Vaan R4.
Find the Burgee That Fits
The show hosts cruising clubs and sailing associations of every stripe, from weeknight racers to bluewater ramblers. Members staff the booths themselves, which means honest answers about what joining actually involves, including the dues, the work parties, and the racing calendar.
Gather a Round
The bars around the show make ideal spaces to shoot the breeze over beverages alcoholic and otherwise. In the Yacht Basin, the No Wake Zone brings together Boat Show Brew and other regionally brewed beers from Pherm Brewing, a bar by Latitude 38, and Gray Wolf and Cane Mixers.
Meet the Voices Behind the Feed
Cruising covers long stretches with no company but the crew, which is part of why cruisers build such durable networks ashore. At the Cruisers Creating Content booth in the Yacht Basin, attendees can meet the sailors whose passages they have been following online and hear how the trips actually went.
Talk Shop, Free of Charge
Expert-led seminars run throughout the show in the Yacht Basin, free with admission, on topics ranging from the practical to the narrative. Old salts and landlubbers alike will find something on the schedule, and the conversations tend to continue in the aisle afterward.
Bring the Whole Crew
Younger attendees have their own reasons to work the docks. Dockside Ducks are hidden throughout the show, and any child who finds one can turn it in at the show office, information booth, or ticket booth for a small prize, duck included. The EWE Spirit Scavenger Hunt starts at the SpinSheet booth, where kids pick up a card, hunt down the items, and collect a prize on return.
