Annapolis Boat Shows and Gill Challenge Sailors to Strut Their Foulest Foulies
Date: March 4, 2026
For Immediate Release | March 4, 2026 | Annapolis, MD | Annapolis Boat Shows and Gill are teaming up to celebrate the sailors who have been out there and getting it done in gear that should have been retired a few seasons ago. The Foulest Foulies After Party starts at 5 p.m. in the No Wake Zone at the Annapolis Sailboat Show with the competition kicking off at 6 p.m.
A wise sailor once said, “there’s no bad weather, only bad gear.” And when foul weather gear is past its sell-by date, even a damp afternoon on the water can turn miserable. Some sailors maintain a separate foul weather gear fund, never leaving the dock in anything but the newest, driest kit. The rest of us occasionally reach for the duct tape.
The Foulest Foulies event invites those duct-tape devotees to finally get some credit for their perseverance. Participants will model their most worn-out, patched-up, salt-crusted foul weather gear in a fashion show judged by a panel of experts. The sailor sporting the foulest foulies will walk away with a new OS2 Offshore Jacket, Bibs, and 60L Voyager Duffel Bag from Gill.
Sailors interested in competing can sign up at www.annapolisboatshows.com/the-foulest-foulies-content/. Space may be limited, so early registration is encouraged.
The Foulest Foulies is part of a full slate of programming at the Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show, which runs April 24–26 in downtown Annapolis. The show provides a local, accessible entry point to the sailing lifestyle, offering opportunities to take part in on-the-water experiences, board boats from a variety of dealers, connect with sailing experts, and start sailing that weekend.
