Sakonnet 23
Marshall Marine will also present the Sakonnet 23, a classic Joel White–designed daysailer with the shoal draft versatility of the company’s catboats. Marshall Marine took over the molds and building rights in 2010, carrying forward the tradition begun by Edey & Duff in Mattapoisett. Her distinctive double-ended profile, graceful sheer, and efficient hull make her a head-turner in any harbor—sailing with such ease and balance that she leaves little more than a ripple behind.
She’s as solidly built as she is beautiful, with bronze bow and stern castings, half-oval brass rail guards, a tapered anodized aluminum mast and boom, stainless steel standing rigging, and braided running rigging. The Sakonnet 23 also features Harken deck hardware, a mainsail with single reef, a 100% hank-on jib, molded cockpit liner with storage lockers, full flotation, a 920-pound lead keel with ballasted pivoting centerboard, a fiberglass rudder with stainless steel post, and a varnished ash tiller. Even the manual bilge pump is flush-mounted for a clean finish, accented by warm teak trim.
With more than 100 Sakonnet 23s sailing across the United States, these boats are treasured for family daysailing, singlehanded outings, and competitive racing.
