Annapolis, Maryland (October 1, 2014) — The Marine Trades Association of Maryland, Eastport Yacht Club Foundation and Annapolis Boat Shows are partnering to present Maryland Boating Career Discovery Day on Oct. 11 and Oct. 18.
This is an opportunity for high school students to become familiar with the marine trades industry at the upcoming US Sailboat Show, Oct. 9 to 13, and US Powerboat Show, Oct. 16 to 19, in Annapolis.
Organizers will be using the nation’s oldest in-water boat shows as a platform to showcase careers available in Maryland’s $2 billion recreational boating industry. Maryland Boating Career Discovery Day is an educational experience available to 40 students between the ages of 13 and 18 and one adult guest per student, according to a MTAM news release.
Participants will enjoy complimentary access, a $36 value, to either the US Sailboat Show or US Powerboat Show, continental breakfast and a brief presentation about career opportunities with the marine trades, followed by a maritime treasure hunt and escorted VIP access to the show. Following the program, the students and guests will be free to explore the show through the end of the day.
